Does time fly by faster now that you don't go to meetings anymore?

JW's - Who Started Smoking Once You Left?
by BBOARD infor those of you who grew up as a jw (or not) you knew what, according to jehovah/wts, was expected of you in terms of strict morals and conduct.
how many of you never touched a cigarette or smoked while being raised as a jw but suddenly started once you left for various reasons ie just to be rebellious, to fit in with "wordlings", to overcompensate for your restricted youth etc.
i know i did and it feels great except for the nasty smoke smell.

I have not changed. I have never tried anything new, just a cigar a few times. I was raised a dub, so I still have many of the values. I try to teach my children more about life vs. the org. I am preparing them for college.
I would smoke weed, but unfortunately it is illegal. darn!!

Anyone feel lonely at holidays?

everyone we know now has family to be with at tg or xmas.
we really love going all out for the holidays, but in the end it's a little disappointing and sad.

When single, I would splurge on my self. It was funny how everyone would whine about being broke after the holiday, but I had new things!!!
Now I buy my family things. I enjoy the outdoor skating, skiing and other seasonal activities. I guess I still have the witness /god complex. (I don't need your pagan days, I will use them to my advantage. l know many JW's that have parties during the holidays. I guess it was a christmas party with good music, no carols.
I also work OT on TG and Chrismas. Guys still feel that my kids miss something. I have 4 children, wife of 15 Years and I have the problem Mr. divorcee?? :)
Expand your friendship base. Life is good, enjoy!!

Window washers are not that smart and sneaky
No offense to window-washers. I personally knew 3 elders of that profession that were not that bright. One was having relations with a student at a Junior College in the supply room.
In response to another comment, everyone has their own moral code. Being a witness or not, I would like to think honesty and integrity are important virtues. I do NOT consider myself a witness, but I am a christian. A man with morals and values outlined in the bible.
If you have an open relationship, then you are probably NOT cheating. If your parner is NOT aware of your sexual activity with another person, then YES, you are cheating.
Just my perspective.

Idea on what we can do with all our old meeting clothes....
by avishai inthey used to have a donation place where i live that gave low income women business attire for job interviews, why they did'nt have one for men i dunno.
they're no longer around, but i'd like to start a non-profit w/ clothes, etc.
for low income, homeless etc.

Do you know of men / women that cheat on their spouse regularly? Worldly or witness. Provide details of the circumstances (strip clubs, business trips, girlfriend in other cities, ect..........).
I did not mean just going to a strip club. I know of MANY that go with a condom on and get a happy ending. This seems to happen a lot in massage parlors as well. Business Trips, hotel suites and airports are interesting places. Again, I thought a certain class of person engaged regularly in this type of behavior, but I can see that I was naive, very naive.

I have known of men to cheat in the hall, but they usually get caught. I have heard great stories about JW men that cheat. Most witnesses are not that bright and make mistakes. Window washers are not that smart and sneaky.
The individual that I mentioned in my initial post has relationships with women. This person WAS respectable in my eyes prior to this event. He literally has a SYSTEM.

That really is only a concept that depends on definition. Look at the Bible, and having multiple partners was not cheating, it was a way of life. The number of women related to ones financial status.
Point taken. I look at cheating as penetration with / from someone other than your mate. My wife disagrees, but oral is not (really, really bad)cheating IMO, just loose conduct. Right or wrong, this is my perverted warped view. It is bad but...............

Thanks for the quick answers everyone.
Encouraging words from friends truly solidifies my already firm stand. I attempt to take my wife with me on trips. This helps to prevent me from being in a compromising position.
I think it says something about the relationship, I really do. I know those who will say that is not it, but from my perspective of those I know who have, there is something wrong. I happen to believe it's got to do with self confidence. If you don't have it, you look anywhere you can to prove that you are worth something. Until that is fixed, you can never be truly faithful.
Or maybe I'm just one awesome woman.............................
